What date does Wimbledon start?
The most iconic tennis tournament on this particular planet starts on Monday 1st July, then it’s two weeks of pure, grass court, lawn-based, topspun pleasure.
Is there a dress code for Wimbledon?
There’s no dress code for you, no. Unless you, reader, happen to be Carlos Alcaraz or Rafa Nadal. For players, the dress code is serious—white only. For spectators, you’ll be expected to dress relatively smartly—don’t come in your string vest and trackies—but officially there is no dress code.
Is there a dress code for Centre Court?
Again, no official dress code but, typically, Centre Court is a place for smart dress. Think summer wedding attire—smart and suave without looking like you’re heading to a job interview. You’re gonna want to keep it a bit breezy—it’s July in Southern England, and global warming has us in a gyat damn chokehold.
WHAT CLOTHES SHOULD YOU AVOID AT WIMBLEDON?
Dirty trainers ain’t gonna fly down in SW19, neither are running vests, sports shorts, or torn jeans, according to the internet. You wouldn’t be here if you were planning on rocking up in that kind of Max and/or Paddy attire anyway, though, would you? Nothing wrong with it, just maybe save it for another time. Percival and tennis are both brilliant, and when Wimbledon is on, they come together like Magnet & Steel.
Do men wear suits to Wimbledon?
They do, yes. Quite regularly. It’s not a requirement—not at all—but especially if you’re attending Centre Court (lucky you), suits are commonplace. This is where you’ve got to be careful, though. An ill-fitting suit made of the wrong material, with your head swivelling side-to-side following those lovely rallies… A man could give himself some serious friction burn, or worse—DECAPITATION.
Maybe. Best not to take the risk.
Do men have to wear white at Wimbledon?
Nah. You do you.
Men’s Wimbledon Outfit
For that smart, sophisticated Wimbledon look that’s going to have the Centre Court cameras picking you out for a crowd close-up, but won’t have you sweating more than Novak in a vaccination clinic, may we suggest a linen blazer paired with linen trousers. Breathable, soft, lightweight, stylish.
Knitted Polo
For a slightly more casual (but still slick) look, try one of Percival’s trademark knitted polos. The Casa Picante is perfect for an afternoon of strawberries, cream, and big serves followed by volleys at the net, but you aren’t going to go far wrong with the entire knitted shirt collection, to be honest.
Wallabees
Footwear is important for proper enjoyment and maximum swag at The Tennis. If it’s hot, hit these Off White Mesh Wallabees. They can’t be beaten for keeping your feet fresh both stylistically and odoriferously. If the clouds are closing in, ditch the mesh and go for a classic Wallabee Boat. Clarke’s are the ideal combination smart and casual, treading the line between formality and informality with the elegance of a Roger Federer backhand.
