When to wear a fleece jacket?
This sounds like a simple concept, doesn’t it? But we’ve all been burned in the past. It’s a warm-ish day so you think, ‘I’ll pop a fleece on instead of a coat’, and within ten minutes you’re sweating in a beer garden and yet every little breeze is going straight through you. Rookie mistake. No dramas, though. Mistakes are meant to be learned from. Read on.
Can you wear a fleece in the winter?
You sure can, champ. Counterintuitively, you’re better off going for a more lightweight or snug-fitting fleece in winter so that you can chuck an outer layer over the top of it if needs be. Then if it’s one of those beautiful crisp, bright winter days, you can always remove the outer layer and still be toasty in your fleece.
Can you wear a fleece in the spring?
Yes, you absolutely can. Spring often provides ideal fleece weather, in fact. Not too cold, not too windy, the sun is growing in confidence but it’s not quite T-shirt weather. A fleece jacket is your best friend in springtime. In fact, we might rename spring ‘fleece’. The States can keep spring and autumn, but in the UK it’s fleece and autumn from now on.
