Leather is a natural product and will always change over time, developing characteristics that are specific to you and how you wear them. Clean and polish your leather D+D’s regularly, let them dry naturally if they get wet (always avoid direct heat), and make sure you store them properly.
First thing’s first, use a protective spray on your footwear when you take them out of the box for the first time. This forms a barrier, keeping them from taking anything on that can damage the leather – and will help to repel wet weather..
Brush your shoes down thoroughly using a shoe brush – avoid anything with stiff bristles to avoid scratching or scuffing the leather. Follow it up with a leather cream, applied with a clean cloth. Work it into the creases and give them good coverage, without over saturating. This will help extend the life of the leather and prevent it from going stiff or suffering at natural stress points you create when walking.
