Styling Guide: Men’s Festival Outfit Ideas

Festivals are messy. Spending too much time on coordinating your outfit could actually do you more bad than good. Men’s festival fits are all about fun, comfort, and practicality. So take your inspiration from everything you’ve just learned, and throw on what feels right when you wake up in your tent, drenched in euphoria and endorphins and community spirit. Don’t do anythinginsane, though. There’s a decent chance you’ll end up on TV and everyone you love will see you pairing a busy tee with a patterned cuban shirt. Like, don’t do that. But, otherwise, free love, baby.

What is Festival Clothing?

By definition festival clothing is fun. It’s lighthearted and lightweight, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re going to spend a long weekend in a field full of people with enough alcohol in them to subdue a shire horse, you’re not going to be looking for smart, preppy clothes — you’re going to want comfort, practicality, durability, and something a little bit out there.

What do Men Wear to Festivals?

Well, that’s the question, isn’t it? Men wear all sorts of madness to festivals — bucket hats, enough UV paint to effectively camouflage them at a laser tag tournament, a three-sizes-too-big shell suit jacket they found in a bougie vintage shop and bought with their dad’s money — stuff like that.

How to Dress for a Festival?

You’re gonna want festival-appropriate shirts, durable tees, waterproof jackets, football shirts (caution needed here — see below) and festival shorts.

Festival Fashion Trends to Watch This Summer

The UK summer festival season is here. Whether you’re a Glasto guy, a Reading & Leedsman, a Bestival, TRNSMT, Wireless, or Latitude kind of fella, it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear.

Co-ords, Crochet, and Confidence

This summer is about the three Cs—they’re in the subheading just above. Crochet Shirts have been on a steady upward trajectory for the past few years, and they’re ideal for a festival fit. Suitably stylish and breezy enough to let you go a bit doo-lally-tap when Alanis Morisette breaks into ‘Ironic’ (don’t pretend you don’t love that song—everybody does).

Festival Attire Ideas for 3 Day Festival Weekends

If you’re doing the full weekend, if  you’re in it for the long haul, you’re going to need several outfits ready to go, and you’re going to need to be prepared. The weather is about as easy to predict as the next thing to come out of Bob Mortimer’s mouth, so you’re going to need a range of fits to get you through the full three days.

Men’s Festival Outfits

Let’s get you sorted with a few different festival fits, shall we?

Men's Festival T Shirts

At a festival you want something you can move in. Something practical and stylish. Something like a Boxy T-Shirt. Happily, the most fashionable tees at this moment in time also happen to be the most practical. Lap this up, men. Savour these times, cherish them, live them fully.

Men's Festival Shirts

We’ve been through crochet shirts already—you know that song. What other kind of shirts are we having for festival season, then? We’re having Cuban Collar Shirts for a start. We’re always having a Cuban collar shirt. We’re taking a proper Polo Shirt too—goes with everything, useful in an emergency. We’re also packing a Long Sleeve Shirt just in case—good to have a really smart option for the cameras.

Men's Festival Shorts

If you’re not taking AT LEAST two pairs of Shorts to the festival, you are taking liberties. Could you get away with wearing the same shorts for three days? Yes, of course you could. Are you almost certainly going to get them dirty or have an unspecified fluid spilled on them at some point? Inevitably. Take your pick—we recommend linen and/or cargo.

Men's Festival Jackets

Our personal choice of Jacket for a festival would be a nice fleece. It’ll keep you warm, it’s stylish and practical. Just make sure you take something with a bit of warmth or you’ll regret it.

Festival Football Shirts

Non-British football shirts are innately cooler than British ones. That’s just the way it is. We don’t make the rules. It’s like gravity — you can’t petition against gravity, it just is. Anything from Italy – you’re grand. South America – sorted. PSG is illegal now, unfortunately, since that kid did that Thiago Silva song with Dave — let him have it, that shirt is retired (also a football shirt produced by Jordan, a basketball company — no thanks. It’s just not right).

Men’s Glastonbury Outfits

Glasto is England’s most famous festival. It’s also notorious for its unreliable weather. Some of Glastonbury’s most iconic moments have arrived caked in mud and drenched in rain. That’s why you’re going to make sure you’re ready for the elements with a waterproof Sherlock, England’s (and the world’s) finest mac. You’re also going to go full Somerset with a Floral Shirt or a Patterned Shirt.

Men’s Coachella Outfits

Does it get cold at Coachella?

Yes, it does. Coachella is in California, so your brain goes to a warm place, but it is in April and, famously, the sun doesn’t shine at night time, so things are going to get a bit nippy. Don’t get caught out, pack yourself a high quality Heavyweight Jumper or a Hoodie. Or both, ideally.

What Should Men Wear to Beer Festivals?

Same rules apply as to a music festival, except you can probably go a little smarter if you’re feeling it, a little more dressed up. The main thing to consider here is that you’re going to be consuming a lot of beer, and so is everybody around you. Accidents will happen. There’s no getting around this other than to pack more than you think you’ll need. Maybe nothing white because, you know, stains.

Festival Accessories for Men

Socks, hats, and belts are your go-to festival Accessories.

An umbrella and cap is always a good shout at a festival.

The only exception we make for a bucket hat is for Welsh football fans. It’s kind of their thing and they’re allowed. If you’re not a Welsh football fan, leave the bucket hat at home, please.

Mix & match at will - festivals are a free-for-all.
