Men's Jackets
Not many words rhyme with men’s jackets. Tragic, really. Fortunately, there’s plenty more going on in the jackets themselves: leather, cord, heavyweight wool, suede, quilted bombers and technical cloth, all shaped, detailed and refined in Hackney. Substantial fabrics, refined hardware and familiar menswear shapes, elevated through considered construction, distinctive detailing and the sort of finish that rewards a closer look.
Men’s Jackets
Choosing a jacket comes down to style, climate and how much warmth you need. Percival covers the classics with waxed jackets, Harrington jackets and field jackets, alongside men’s bomber jackets, chore jackets and wool fleece jackets, then pushes things further with denim, suede and leather styles in forest green, espresso brown and seasonal checks.
Men’s Jackets for Autumn, Winter & Spring
Men’s jackets do most of their work in the months when a coat feels excessive and a T-shirt feels optimistic. Autumn is prime territory for Harrington jackets, suede, wool and casual jackets with enough weight to take the edge off. Winter brings out insulated bomber jackets, men’s fleece jackets and heavier layers that still stop short of full overcoat territory. Come spring, lightweight men’s jackets move back to the front of the wardrobe. If rain is involved, the Hanson covers the waterproof jacket brief; waxed cotton gives you some weather resistance with less hillwalking energy. If the forecast starts looking genuinely biblical, move across to our Men’s Trench Coats.
How Should a Men’s Jacket Fit?
Start at the shoulders. The seam should sit close to the edge of your shoulder unless the jacket is deliberately dropped or oversized. From there, look at proportion. Cropped and boxy jackets should create width without swallowing your torso; longer field jackets need enough length to look intentional rather than simply oversized. Leave room for what you actually wear underneath. A winter jacket should take a knit comfortably, while lighter jackets can sit closer to the body. Two-way zips help here too: open the bottom slightly when sitting or layering to stop the jacket bunching around the waist. If the shoulders pull when you reach forward, size up. If the whole thing collapses around you, size down.
What Makes a Percival Jacket, Percival?
The team in Hackney have a habit of meddling with the bits other jackets leave alone. Funnel necks become an alternative to the standard collar, bomber jackets get two-way zips and unexpected linings, field jackets pick up fireman clasps, D-rings and adjustable waists, while fleece jackets come with cord collars, checked linings and carabiners tucked inside.
Then there are the smaller tells: custom patches, contrast stitching, branded hardware, embroidery, unusual pockets and limited-run details refined in Hackney before the jacket eventually lands on your shoulders. None of it is there to fill a spec sheet. It is there because an ordinary jacket would have been considerably easier.
