Q: What is brushed moleskin, and is it any good for tailoring?
A: Despite the slightly rogue name, no small woodland creatures were involved. Moleskin is a densely woven cotton fabric with a short sheared pile, brushed for an ultra-soft, almost suede-like handle. Think of it as velvet's tougher, more practical cousin.
- Is it good for suits? Very. Especially when the temperature drops. Moleskin is weighty, wind-resistant, durable and drapes beautifully, giving tailoring a matte finish and a quieter kind of confidence.
